Day 1 Fes – Ilfrane – Azrou – Midelt – Merzouga
After breakfast we will depart from Merzouga through the Middle Atlas region. We will go through Ifrane, the Switzerland of Morocco and the cedar forests of Azrou where we can stop to feed the monkeys. We will continue to Midelt where we will have lunch. Then we will follow the Ziz River through the valley and stop seeing the Ziz gorges on the way to Merzouga.
Day 2 Merzouga – Khamlia – Rissani ‘Erg Chebbi’
Today we are going to explore the desert region and the wonder that is the desert dunes of Erg Chebbi. We will make a circuit of the desert dunes where you will have the opportunity to see the nomad ‘s way of life and the amazing changes contrasts of the desert. We will visit the village of Black Khamlia to see the Gnawa musicians. We will have a traditional Berber pizza for lunch in the old capital of Rissani. In the afternoon we will ride the camels to see the sunset over the dunes and spend the night in the desert camp. We will have a traditional tagine dinner, drink delicious mint tea, listen to traditional Berber music while watching the stars and the crescent moon in the incredible Sahara desert.
Day 3 Merzouga – Gorges of Todra – Gorges of dades
We will wake up early to see the spectacular sunrise over the dunes before making our way back to the hotel for breakfast and a shower. We will cross the valleys of palm trees of Tourog and Tinjdad to reach Todra gorges. We will take a walk in the Todra Gorges and have lunch at a local restaurant before continuing to our accommodation in the Dades Gorges.
Day 4 Gorges of the Dades – The Kelaa Magona – Skoura – Ouarzazate
After breakfast we will take a walk in the gorge and then take the path of the track to see the compass nomad caves. We continue via El Kelaa Magona, Valle de las Rosas and the oasis of Skoura to reach Ouarzazate.
Day 5 Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Telouet – Marrakech
After breakfast we will visit the Taourirt Kasbah before leaving for Ait Ben Haddou to visit the world heritage site. We will continue with a visit to the traditional high Berber Atlas village of Telouet and the Kasbah el Glaoui. We will have lunch at a local restaurant in Telouet before descending the Tizi-n-Tichka to Marrakech.
